Festival Description

The Banff Centre is an incubator of creativity that inspires and empowers artists, the mountain community, and business and community leaders from Alberta, Canada, and around the world. Located in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, the Centre provides a unique learning environment where individuals and groups pursue personal and professional development, create new work, engage in applied research, share ideas and experiences, and celebrate accomplishments through performances, exhibitions, and special events.

  • Eric Harvie Theatre—The 959-seat Eric Harvie Theatre is the main auditorium in the theatre complex. It is a proscenium house with fly tower that regularly accommodates opera, dance, a wide variety of music, film, drama, and conferences.
  • Margaret Greenham Theatre—The 246-seat Margaret Greenham Theatre is the second theatre space in the complex, it is a studio space with a fixed audience rake, soft black masking, and a fixed grid. It is used extensively for dance, drama, intimate music events, and meeting.
  • The Club—Located on the lower level of The Banff Centre’s theatre complex, The Club is an intimate, informal, licensed non-smoking venue.

  • The Calgary International Airport is about 120 km (just a 1.5 hour drive) from the Banff Centre.

  • By Bus
    Bus service is available from Calgary International Airport to Banff through Brewster Transportation, Laidlaw Transportation and the Banff Airporter Service at a cost of $20. Four departures (Brewster and Laidlaw) leave Calgary International daily to Banff/Lake Louise hotels, and four return daily from Banff/Lake Louise to the airport. The bus trip will take approximately 2 hours.

  • By Car
    • All major car rental companies (Avis, Rent-Rite, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, Tilden) have offices at the Calgary airport. Costs for a standard midsize car range in the neighbourhood of $ 60 a day or $250 per week, includes unlimited mileage. You have to calclulate also a park fee which every person entering the Banff National Park has to pay. The daily fee for adult is $5.00. Annual passes are available for $35.
    • If you are driving to Banff/Lake Louise, Highway #1 leads directly to the Rockies. The Trans Canada is a 4 lane divided highway from Calgary to the Sunshine Village access road and a major 2-4 lane highway to Lake Louise. The road is a major 4-lane highway and the driving time is approximately 1.5 hours.
