| Festival Description | The White Mountain Folk Festival takes place over the Heritage Day long weekend in September in the Central Drakensberg region of KwaZulu-Natal. The festival site is located on the grounds of White Mountain Lodge in the foothills of the Giant’s Castle Nature Reserve, only 34km from Estcourt on tarred roads and just 200km from Durban and 430km from Johannesburg. The program consists of live acoustic/folk music by top and emerging South African artists. Aside from the music, there’ll also be fun outdoor activities like abseiling, river rafting, fishing, boating and hiking, as well as a craft market selling a wide range of quality handicrafts, assorted food and beverage stalls, entertainment for the kids, and all the necessary amenities to make the festival as enjoyable as possible. |
