Festival Description

The International Theatre Festival “Belaya Vezha” is the largest theatrical forum in Belarus. Since 1996 the Festival has been bringing together glorified, eminent theatre workers from all over the world and has opened new horizons for young talents. For directors and actors, musicians and artists the Brest festival is a fine possibility to present to spectators their best works.

The festival enjoys broad acclaim both in Belarus and abroad. Every year the program of the festival features steadily increasing number of entries, the geography of the countries—participation is expending and the number of visitors is increasing. The theatres from 46 countries of the world have already taken part in the theatrical forum.

The most attractive feature of “Belaya Vezha” (White Tower) is the festival program which includes performances of different theatrical genres: classical drama, innovative plays, puppet performances for children and adults, open air presentations, carnival processions, plastic drama and modern choreography. During the Festival concerts, exhibitions, conferences are held.

Awards:
  • For the performances included in the competitive program the following awards are established:
    • GRAND-PRIX OF THE FESTIVAL (instituted by the Chairman of Brest Regional Executive Committee)
    • 3 DIPLOMAS FOR THE BEST PLAYS (instituted by the Organising Committee of the Festival)
    • DIPLOMAS FOR THE BEST PERFORMANCES IN THEATRICAL PROFESSIONS (instituted by the Organising Committee of the Festival)
Organisational and Financial Conditions:
  • To participate in the festival a theatre group should submit a recording of the play or performance and the completed Application form of the participant.
  • All the participants of the Festival are provided with hotel accommodation/three meals a day/cultural program/free access to the plays and other activities of the Festival.
  • Theatre groups are invited for the period up to 4 days; representatives of theatres (2 people) — the entire period of the Festival.
  • Travel expenses and transportation of stage sets and baggage are paid by the participants of the festival.
