The One Man Show Festival of Chisinau was created at the initiative of Dumitru Fusu with the support of City hall of Chisinau in 1999. The Chisinau Festival is part of the International One-Man-Show Network in Moscow (Russia), Kiel (Germany), Kiev (Ukraine), Minsk (Russian), Wroclaw (Poland), Geneva (Switzerland), Riga (Latvia), and Yerevan (Armenia). The aim of this festival is to discover new theater forms, emphasize the freedom of creativity, diversify the language of communication. The actor—the key element—the promoter of the personality in the theater is more necessary nowadays to maintain and renew the traditions, to support the values of stage creativity and to defend the theater specifically. One of the objectives that is pursued is to combine the archaic forms of European performances as well as contemporary theater and corporal expression. The festival committee sees this event as a dialogue between various cultures, a connecting bridge between the artists and values—as a protective wall against the isolating trends and stagnancy of our society. At the same time one of the festival’s objectives is the promotion of the native actors abroad.
