Festival Description

The first edition of the International Ethno Jazz Festival was held in 2002. It was organized thanks to the desire of Ethno jazz group Trigon to celebrate the group’s 10th anniversary—inviting friends to play in Moldova’s capital, Chisinau, in late September. As Trigon’s friends are musicians from different countries, the festival becames an International event dedicated to Trigon’s own music style. The Festival gradually became a tradition, importantly contributing to the cultural and social life of country.

The Festival features international jazz musicians and vocalists from all over the world, representing the large range of trends in contemporary jazz music. This event is arousing more and more interest not only because of the promotion of the unity of the various world musical traditions that fall under the umbrella of the cosmopolitan jazz. But also due to the high professional level of its participants which grow in number with every edition—discovering new names and presenting well-known masters.

Alongside the concerts the festival presents workshops, photo exhibitions and the charitable actions that are also a part of festival. The organizers transfer a share of the ticket sales to those in need of support and care—in 2002 the money was donated to the newborn babies section of of the Clinic Hospital no. 2; in 2006 to the boarding school in Socii Noi village and to the boarding school no. 1 in Chisinau. In 2007 the organizers donated the money to retired artists.
