Festival Description

KLINKERS 2009 is the 15th edition of the cultural summer happening in the world famous medieval town of Brugge, Belgium. Between 24 July and 8 August performers from all over the world will come to Brugge for this very colourful, multi-cultural music event. An introduction to the wide range of contemporary, global musical cultures against the backdrop of the prominent historic façades of the City Hall, the Gruuthuse Museum and the Belfry or the botanical Astridpark.

In the past years the festival has built up an international reputation for staging musical acts/performers from all over the world which have proven their high artistic quality, but which still have been unable to make a breakthrough to a wider audience. These acts are presented alongside better known performers, which act as the eye-catcher for the public. Titled ‘KLINKERS INTIEM’ the festival also presents a series of exclusive concerts, which all are related to very rich musical traditions: flamenco, fado, rembetico, Cuban music,… All concerts take place in the intimite historical site of of Gruuthuse (in case of uncooperative weather, the festival takes place in the concert hall of the city theatre) for a seated audience.

Festival Dates July 26 - August 10, 2013
