Festival Description

Each September the arid, desert town of Drj in the Sahara hosts Drj Desert Festival where sights and sounds of thousands of Libyans and other visiting Mahgrebis bring the desert to life. Old, young, city folk, country folk and nomadic Tuaregs, dance and celebrate their own cultural traditions together. In 2002 Welsh pipe-player Ceri Rhys Matthews was well-received by the Libyans as he shared his traditional music from his homeland.
