| Festival Description | The International Festival “Women in Dance”, celebrates the unification of the world with peace by using a common and fundamental form of human expression—the art of dance. In a universal joint effort, the Casa de la Dance Foundation, brings to the life this encounter of great refugee and social impact with the best world-wide dance. Each year the ideals of this festival become reality on March 8th with a tribute to women—gathering and recognizing the work of the feminine, by projecting it from a new consciousness for the value of as much for men as for women. By honoring the diverse international dance styles of the world the festival equally honors the diversity of peoples throughout the world. The Festival the International “Women in the Dance” is organized each year to take place in Ecuador’s capital, Quito and extends to outlying areas such as Guayaquil, Cuenca, Esmeraldas y Cotacachi where world-wide dance is made within reach of all the public. |

Festival Story:
This Festival is a non-profit event, with a social character, that has positioned itself as the most important dance event of Ecuador and one of most solid internationally, with a social impact without precedents. A unique event that renders tribute to Women and has opened a space of Peace and Unity among the nations of the world. With an open door philosophy of diversity and inclusiveness, the festival gathers different dance expressions, and, parallel to the professional presentations, holds a special platform for young choreographers. The Festival takes place annually from the 8th to the 18th of March in the city of Quito, Ecuador. It’s First Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity, having as its cradle and its headquarters in the Historical Center, in cultural centers, theaters, museums, churches, plazas, etc. Through its dance caravans, the festival extends its activities to peripheral zones of the city, to special social centers and other cities.
Parallel to the presentations there are workshops, master classes, conferences, didactic conferences, tributes, and exhibitions. As a tradition, every year, an ancestral ceremony for World Peace is celebrated. Year after year the Festival awaits with an open heart and infinite hope that this call reaches all Dancers from this earth.
