Theaterfestival Vlaanderen is part of the annual Theatre Festival that is organized simultaneously in either Antwerp (deSingel), Brussels (Kaaitheater) or Ghent (Vooruit), and in Amsterdam (NL). The two-week Theater Festival looks back upon the most important Dutch and Flemish adult and youth theatre productions of the past season. The selection of productions used to be made by a jury of professionals, but since 2004 it is done by two curators. The best production is awarded the Theater Festival Prize.
In addition, the Theaterfestival devotes attention to the work of young theatre makers, invites companies for guest performances or events, organizes thematic conferences or workshops in theatre criticism, presents new books, offers interviews, discussions, meetings, etc.
