| Festival Description | The city of Tzarevo and the Bulgarian Folklore centre “Nestia” organize the annual International folklore festival “NESTIA TZAREVO”. The festival takes place in the city of Tzarevo, a summer resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea. In this event participants include folklore ensembles and groups; dancing and vocal groups; soloists and instrumentalists from all over the world. This international event seeks to promote and share the folklore and traditions of different nations to strengthen the friendship and the identity of each country. |

Festival Story:
Bulgarian Art and Folklore Centre “Nestia” was founded in 1991. There are branches and subdivisions in every district of Sofia which use as their headquarters, schools, library clubs, community centres and houses of culture. Currently there are about 70 folklore groups in kindergartens, schools, cultural and community centers, with more than 1200 participants between the ages of 3 to 70 years, working in folklore centre “Nestia”. Many well-known Bulgarian folklore and dancing groups work with folklore centre “Nestia” and take part in their activities in Bulgaria and foreign countries:
— Folk formation “Nestia” - dancing group, folk vocal group
— Folk dance formation “Baklitza” – students’ formation
— Children’s Dance group “Iskritzi”
— Children’s Dance group “Bisertche”
— Professional Folk Group “Lulin”
— Folk School “Badnina”
— Folk dance formation “Pirina” - professional folk dance group.
Folklore Centre “Nestia” provides an opportunity for all participants to show and develop their talent, to perform creatively in concerts, contests, radio and TV programs, competitions and festivals in Bulgaria and abroad.
For many years Folklore Centre “Nestia” has worked in common with their partners: Produser’s House “Kukeri”, Bulgarian International Folklore Company, Foundation “About the Folklore”, Impresarios firm “HriStan-IS” and with the support of Produser’s House “Pirina”, Foundation “Bridges” and folklore singer Ilia Lukov, Balkan Alliance of Folklore, Association “Dance formation Baklitca”, Association “Panorama – Schools”, Ministry of Science and Education, Ministry of Culture, Town Council of Sofia, Municipality of Sofia, Association “Folklore Forums” and Bulgarian Association of private schools.
Folklore Centre “Nestia” engages in many cultural activities and gives an opportunity for participants from the different folklore courses, to take part in folklore events. Every year we are organizing different international, folklore festivals in Sofia and other towns in Bulgaria.
