Come & See, the Catalan theatre encounter which takes place in Barcelona, came about in 2006 through the initiative of CIATRE, the professional theatre companies association in Catalonia, and its aim is to promote the creative work of the theatre companies in Catalonia world-wide and to bring international theatre to Barcelona through an organised event of real importance.
Since the initial 2006 event, attended by more than a hundred first-rate international programmers, Come & See has opened its doors to the whole of the Catalan performing arts in an effort to create the opportunity for all companies, authors, venues and producers in Catalonia to present their shows before the agents, international festivals and programmers that have been invited.
The 2008 Come & See is an event—a performing arts showcase—a meeting point where over three days — July 2 to 4 — you’ll be able to watch some 30 half-hour long performances, as well as projects for co-production being presented, talks, round-table discussions, face-to-face encounters and many other activities for all professionals who attend.
Come & See is funded by ICIC, the Catalan Cultural Industry Institute, and suuported by the Cultural Institute of Barcelona (ICUB) – Barcelona City Council, the Delegation of Barcelona, the Institut Ramon Llull and the SGAE (Spanish Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers). The theatre world is bound for the National Theatre of Catalonia in Barcelona in order to see what’s cooking on the Catalan theatre scene. This year the national and state programmers are also being invited to find out about the latest theatre being created in Catalonia, and to exchange opinions and experiences with colleagues from abroad.
