| Festival Description | The Venice Biennale has for over a century been one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world. Ever since its foundation in 1895, it has been in the avant-garde, promoting new artistic trends and organising international events in the contemporary arts in accordance with a multi-disciplinary model which characterises its unique nature. In 2008 and 2009, Maurizio Scaparro will bring to an end his four-year period as director of the Venice Biennale’s Theatre section. The next two years of the Theatre section will be closely tied in to two features: the first, in November 2008, with an international training and specialisation workshop; the second, in 2009, with an International Theatre Festival to be held in February of that year. |
