Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the centre of musical life in Florence, is based at Teatro Comunale, and produces the Maggio Musicale Festival—together with Bayreuth and Salzburg, the oldest, important European music festival. The festival presents opera, concerts, ballet, drama performances.
