The Dour Festival has taken place every year since 1989 and is now established as one of Europe’s best alternative music events. The festival features a broad range of acts on seven stages.
|Festival Dates||July 14 - 17, 2011|
The Dour Festival is held at an old coal mine in the French border town of Dour, Belgium. The festival is an alternative event with a winning formula of an eclectic array of music genres and acts. There are no headliners at Dour—instead the event gathers an eclectic mix of up-and-coming acts alongside more seasoned ones. The party atmosphere, huge camping site, and small entrance fee have drawn 128,000 people over the course of four days and nights.
The organizers have gone beyond expectations to make the experience an amazing and positive people-friendly event throughout the years. Not only is the event Eco-friendly, but there are water stations, additional restroom facilities, ice cubes, event programs, and even earplugs. The web site has an interactive forum so that audience members can voice their ideas about future acts, as well as other topics. The venue features over 200 live performances on 7 stages over 4 days.
