| Festival Description | Big Day Out has presents a diverse program of international and local artists that hit the road and tour Australia and Auckland, New Zealand. The music festival features a stellar line-up of quality acts in a range of diverse genres that are known for their dynamic and passionate performances. Big Day Out also takes place in Adelaide, South Australia; Melbourne, Victoria; Perth, Western Australia; Sydney, New South Wales; and Auckland, New Zealand. The name says it all really. It’s 12 hours of festival fun in the sun with performances from more than 70 local and international music artists appearing across 8 stages through out the day. The Big Day Out celebrates rock’n’roll as well as dance, hip hop and electronic music, and features sideshow arts and ambience kings from the Lilyworld team. Festival Story:
The event first started out in 1992 with one show in Sydney featuring Nirvana, The Violent Femmes and Mass Appeal and swag of Australian artists. Over the years the show has morphed into the biggest touring music festival in the world with six shows across Australia including one in Auckland (NZ). The Big Day Out has featured the likes of Metallica, Iggy & The Stooges, The Ramones, Black Eyed Peas, Red Hot Chili Peppers as well as Australian artists Silverchair, You Am I, Grinspoon, the Presets and many, many more.
