| Festival Description | Celebrate Brooklyn began in 1979 and is considered one of the city’s longest running outdoor performing arts festivals. The FREE Festival has a simple mission—to bring together performing arts and people at the borough’s Prospect Park. After years of neglect, the Park was given new life. Celebrate Brooklyn played an important role in the park’s revitalization that has since become the center for the summer cultural scene. The diverse program includes international artists and up-and-coming artists drawing close to 250,000 attendees each summer.
