| Festival Description | The five-week festival includes seven productions of grand opera, operetta, light opera, and/or seldom-seen Broadway-style musical theater. Productions are performed in revolving repertory so visitors can enjoy all four shows during a two or three day stay. Utah Festival Opera’s season also includes orchestral and vocal concerts and a full schedule of audience enrichment activities such as production seminars, literary seminars, pre-performance discussions, and backstage tours. The festival takes place in Logan’s Ellen Eccles Theatre, an 1100-seat European-style theater featuring neo-classical design and the newly restored Utah Festival Theatre. Utah Festival Opera is located 80 minutes north of Salt Lake City in Cache Valley, a setting of spectacular mountain scenery. |

Festival Story:
It’s summertime in Logan, Utah, and with it comes the tradition of the Utah Festival Opera. Each season people travel from all over the world (literally) to indulge in the grandeur and charm of the Festival where they can enjoy world-class productions. The Utah Festival Opera offers over 100 events in a five-week period.
There are many FREE events offered also including (but not limited to) a noon concert series, there are FREE Production Seminars where you are able to learn backstage insights from different areas of the technical staff like costumes, wigs and make-up, set design, lighting and sound, etc. UFO also offers FREE Literary Seminars highlighting the repertory productions throughout the season. Each seminar will provide depth meaning to your opera and musical theatre experience by probing each main stage production. This is just the tip of the iceberg of all the activities offered during the summer festival!
And what a great place to meet new and interesting people! Our professional singers, orchestra and technical staff have performed in some of the greatest opera houses in the world. Each summer UFO brings in over 250 company members from all over the world and you have a chance to meet them after each performance out at the delightful Café des Artistes, the refreshment tent outside the theatre. Or maybe you’d like to mingle with them at Breakfast with the Star’s, offered Saturday mornings. There truly is never a dull moment at Utah Festival Opera!
