| Festival Description | Since its first season in 1994, PCMF has presented over seventy concerts featuring nationally acclaimed performers from the United States, Europe and Latin America. In the ensuing years, the Festival has developed a strong community following and a growing national reputation. Festival concerts are often featured on Maine Public Radio’s “Mainestage” and have been regularly recorded and broadcast by WGBH radio in Boston. The Festival has appeared in a live concert on WGBH radio’s “Classical Performances” program and on Maine Public Television’s “Made in Maine” documentary series. A concert from the upcoming will be broadcast on National Public Radio’s “Performance Today”.Strongly committed to the performance of new works, the Festival has featured Resident Composers including Earl Kim, Michael Gandolfi, Osvaldo Golijov, and Elliott Schwartz. PCMF received a grant from the Aaron Copland Fund for Music in recognition of its “contribution to furthering public interest and appreciation of contemporary American music” and has also been awarded grants from the Hunt Foundation, RBC Dain Rauscher, the UNUM Foundation, the Maine Community Foundation, and the Davis Family Foundation. |
