Festival Description

p>The Annual Iowa Women’s Music Festival, has been celebrating women in the arts since 1993. The entrance is FREE and takes place in Upper City Park, Iowa City. Join us, right in your backyard! Bring blankets and chairs for grass seating. No tix are required. Just show up! Food, performer merchandise, festival swag, and other arts/crafts will be available for purchase, so you may want to bring some spending money. There will also be a kids’ area. Pets on leashes are welcome, and dogs have a meet-up for a day of fun! For more info, visit http://www.prairievoices.net.

Saturday, September 1, 8:00pm:
  • The festival continues at The Englert Theatre with a Celebration of the Roots of Women’s Music, featuring Cris Williamson, Ferron & B*tch. This is a ticketed event and the Englert is handling all ticket sales. For tickets or more info, please visit http://www.englert.org or call 319-688-2653.
Sunday, September 2, at 1:00pm:
  • We will have a screening of Ferron’s and Btch’s film _Thunder_, about the life and career of Ferron. Ferron and Btch will be in attendance; we’ll have a reception and a discussion with them after the film. We are asking for donations at the door, as a fundraiser for the festival. The film screening will take place at the Women’s Resource and Action Center (WRAC), 130 N. Madison St., Iowa City (the blue house across from the Iowa Memorial Union on the campus of U. of Iowa). To RSVP for the film screening, e-mail Lisa at iowalisa@juno.com.
  • Following the film screening at 3:00pm on September 2 at WRAC, Erika Luckett and Lisa Ferraro will present a workshop on creativity and/or healing, details TBD. Check back at http://www.prairievoices.net for updates.
