| Festival Description | On average, close to 200 bands will play—the majority of them from the Athens area—have played during the previous Athfests. The music is what drives this festival and makes the organizers want to share it with the community and visitors. Athfest is a non-profit annual music and arts festival in downtown Athens, Georgia that largely showcases the Athens area musical and artistic community. Free outdoor daytime and evening music stages, a nighttime ‘Club Crawl,’ a Juried Artists’ Market, a Kidsfest, music seminar/business panels, a promotional CD and more. The Artist Market, Seminar Panels, Kidsfest and outdoor stages are all free, while wristbands or cover charges are required for certain events. Athfest’s mission is to educate citizens and visitors about music and arts in general, and about Athens music and arts in particular. |
