| Festival Description | The Crested Butte Music Festival makes its home in the historic mining town of Crested Butte, Colorado, set high in the Rocky Mountains. Founded in 1997 by Charles Stegeman and David J. Rothman, the festival has grown from a small organization presenting nine concerts in nine days to a four-week summer music festival with a year-round performance schedule featuring a winter series. This dynamic festival regularly hosts internationally renowned musicians from major orchestras across the country, vocal artists from the Metropolitan Opera, and dancers from the Kansas City Ballet, to perform at the festival each summer. The musical offerings presented by the organization range from world class chamber and international symphony to opera, pops and bluegrass. CBMF also prides itself on presenting world premieres from the operatic, dance and instrumental worlds and continues its strong commitment to music education programs with master classes, lessons, and workshops. |
