| Festival Description | The Shakespeare Schools Festival is a unique arts education initiative enabling 11-16 year olds and their teachers, to perform abridged Shakespeare plays in their local professional theatre. The Festival is open to all secondary schools and youth theatres in over 100 theatres across the UK. The Festival takes place in over 100 theatres across the UK. The Festival is open to all secondary schools, including special schools, and youth theatres. Each night four schools perform an abridged half-hour play in their local theatre. Each participating group is provided with the script of their chosen play, abridged by award-winning editors and playwrights, including Tom Stoppard and Sir Arnold Wesker. |
