| Festival Description | The National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) is the breeding ground for much of Barbados' noted talent. It was introduced in 1973 to provide a forum for the creative and performing arts. Held every year as part of the island's celebrations of political independence, NIFCA showcases many aspects of Bajan culture and creativity. Barbadians of all ages match their talents in music, singing, dance, drama, writing, fine arts, culinary arts, photography, and art and crafts. The festival runs throughout the month of November and culminates with a well-attended gala presentation in which the finalists are featured. NIFCA has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, with large numbers of participants coming forward to showcase their various talents. |
