| Festival Description | Lower Machen Festival was begun in 1968 and presented during midsummer week each year, in one of the most peaceful corners of rural Wales. Each year, the Festival presents a series of concerts of classical and contemporary music of the highest quality with a particular emphasis on the work of Welsh composers, by programming such pieces alongside mainstream repertoire. The Festival also encourages young musicians by engaging and fostering their talent through the early years of their professional career. An educational program was introduced in 1998 and has been involved in schools and with young people as part of the process of building an educational and community strategy in order to bring its work to the largest possible number of members of the community. |
