| Festival Description | The Gŵyl Ifan festival of folk dancing and fun was held for the first time in Cardiff in 1977 under the auspices of the Welsh Folk Dance Society. It includes a Folk Dance, Procession, Taplas, Displays and Workshops. Today the festival is held over three days and is arranged by a committee which meets regularly to coordinate the various activites and to arrange accommodation, transport, eating and dancing venues and the procession through the centre of Cardiff. The Taplas on Saturday night is one of the highlights of the weekend and the dance and music workshops have developed over the years to give everyone the opportunity to have a go at dances from different countries and a chance to learn more about traditional Welsh music. |
