Founded in 1961, today the Festival has sections for Piano, Strings, Classical Guitar, Brass, Woodwind, Recorders, Singing, Organ, Music Making, Chamber Music, Composition of Christmas Carol, Speech and Drama. People of all ages and standards in music and drama can enter the Festival as a competitor.
In music, styles range from Baroque to Boogie and Jazz. In Speech and Drama we hear poems lasting 30 seconds, scenes from Shakespeare, and plays improvised during a tea break. Our aim is to encourage the enjoyment and participation in music and drama and to raise standards using the help of professional adjudicators who are experts in their field of the Performing Arts.
