Festival Description

Shrewsbury Folk Festival takes place at The Agricultural Showground where festival goers will find the main venues, camping, car parks, caters, bars and the box office. As well as numerous concerts there are seven dances, loads of children’s and youth’s events, and Refolkus (new this year) especially for 12-25 year olds, and workshops that cover the very best of the folk tradition. The program also includes music sessions and singarounds and an Open Mic stage, ceilidh dances, and morris dance displays.

Festival launch walk 2014:
  • John Jones and The Reluctant Ramblers to launch the festival
    • John Jones, the charismatic leader of the Oysterband and Shrewsbury Folk Festival patron, has taken up the challenge to walk to the festival from his home near Presteigne in the days leading up to the festival along with his Reluctant Ramblers. There will be several stops at pubs along the way. to sing and carouse with locals before their arrival at the festival on Friday where they will open proceedings on main stage one and John will MC for the evening.
