The Brucknerhaus was founded in 1974 and was purely a music festival based on the works of Anton Bruckner that has since evolved into a forward looking festival. The conjunction between future and tradition that gave the Bruckner Festival and thus the city of Linz a unique image, which is recognized in this form all over the world. The further development of the festival will be in the direction of "linz.art." The Ars Electronica Festival and the Bruckner Festival, together with the Linzer Landestheater, the museum "Lentos" and other cultural institutions in Linz, will form a month of creativity in festival form. This new festival format opens a new chapter in the history of the Bruckner Festival.
