For nearly three decades “Music of the People” has become a major part of the cultural history of Florence and Tuscany. The festival resonates on a national and international level presenting concerts of European traditional and popular music. Within the diverse musical universe of Florence the festival introduces traditional music from throughout the world—European Africans, Asians, and Latin American. The festival proves that “music” is not only classical, pop/rock, Anglo-American and jazz, but that “music of the world” constitutes an immense and rich artistic and cultural family.
