The festival welcomes and encourages cultural exchange and relationships between national and international groups—related to Anniversary Theatre Festival which is sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Islamic Republic of Iran. The festival of international university theater of Iran began in 1997 and has been contributing to theater ever since then. This festival is held annually and national and international groups participate in it. The focus of this festival is mainly on University Theater. The objective of this festival is to improve University Theater and also promote the knowledge of students of theater in Iran. The festival serves as a meeting place to create relationships with other countries and establish cultural ties between theater groups in Iran and other exterior entities world wide. Workshops are organized to make use of foreign professors and their expertise in theater and their experiences.
