Festival Events:

Programming 2011:
  • CHRIS RAMSEY AND JASON COOK
    WHERE: The Comedy Store
    DATE: 17 Oct @ 8pm
    • Something special for the festival: two Geordie superstars performing both their solo Edinburgh shows for just one ticket! Jason Cook’s ‘The Search For Happiness’ and Chris Ramsey’s ‘Offermation’.
  • THE ONE HANDED SHOW: A HISTORY OF PORNOGRAPHY
    WHERE: Apotheca
    DATE: 17 Oct @ 9:45pm
    • Join Nellie on her awfully big adventure as she checks out William Shakespeare’s porn collection in secret rooms at the British Museum, meets one of the world’s foremost pornographers in a small cottage near Kent, and visits (and gets a bit randy) at the censorship office.
  • TWISTED TEA TIME
    WHERE: Soup Kitchen
    DATE: 17-30 Oct @ 6:15pm
    • This show is a great value for anyone looking for a laugh to kick off their night, and will guarantee you a concession ticket to the amazing Festival shows that follow directly after.
  • BRENDON BURNS
    WHERE: Frog and Bucket
    DATE: 19 Oct @ 8:15pm
    • Since taking away the Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2007, Burns has been busy with a successful stint in the US. The adopted Australian and Britain’s most outspoken number one cult comic is back at The Frog and Bucket: catch him while you can.
  • BIZARRE
    WHERE: Lass O’Gowrie
    DATE: 17-28 Oct @ 11pm
    • Join Quentin Reynolds in exploring the psychic, the paranormal, the weird and the bizarre. Experience attempts to communicate with spirits. What really happened at the Houdini Seance? What is the story of the heartbroken girl whose ghost haunts the venue? Recreate the Victorian tilting table tea party sensation.
  • GRINDHOUSE: AFTER DARK
    WHERE: Soup Kitchen
    DATE: 20 & 27 Oct @ 9:30pm
    • Have you ever wondered what happens when comedians are allowed to misbehave after dark? This special series of late shows at the fest unleashes the humor that you find when regular audiences have gone home. A show for the fearless. This has some special appearances from some of our favorite comics doing material you might never see them do on television. A explosion of wits from the Edinburgh Fringe and beyond.
  • TOM STADE LIVE
    WHERE: The Lowry
    DATE: 26 Oct @ 8pm
    • Join the hugely talented Canadian émigré on his eagerly awaited debut nationwide tour! As seen on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC1) and Stand-Up For The Week (Channel 4), Tom co-stared and co-wrote Frankie Boyle’s Tramadol Nights (Channel 4).
  • FUNBOX
    WHERE: Pub Zoo
    DATE: 19 Oct @ 8pm
    • A veritable cornucopia of comedy. From stand up to sketches, characters to songs. And for one night only, a triple bill headline show. Featuring Red Redmond with his show Giggleocalypse, The Animals of Butter Bridge and all the usual Funbox fun.
  • XS MALARKEY COMEDY CLUB
    WHERE: Platt Chapel
    DATE: 18 & 25 Oct @ 9:15pm
    • XS Malarkey Comedy Club featuring MC Toby Presents / Another superb night of stand up comedy.
  • TONY HAWKS
    WHERE: The Lowry
    DATE: 27 Oct @ 8pm
    • As a comedian, best-selling author, international pop star, celebrated fridge owner, film producer, tennis player and regular member of some of the UK’s most famous TV and radio panel shows, Tony’s career has meandered in many directions. Join him as he brings them together on stage in a unique evening of stories, songs and silliness.
  • MARCEL LUCONT: ENCORE
    WHERE: Soup Kitchen
    DATE: 18-19 Oct @ 7pm
    • France’s finest flâneur and raconteur presents his hit show from Edinburgh Fringe and Melbourne Comedy Festival. Dry wit, bawdy chansons and a poem about tits.
  • JULIET MEYERS: I’M NOT SPARTACUS!
    WHERE: Apotheca
    DATE: 23 Oct @ 8:15pm
    • Juliet’s passionate about big things (evil bastards) and little things (disappointing magicians). She can stand up and be funny, but can she stand up and be counted like Spartacus and friends? (No knowledge of the film required!).
