| Festival Description | Istanbul International Puppet Festival was founded in 1996 by Cengiz Özek and has been running annually to the present, visited by puppeteers of every genre from all over the world. The aim of the festival is to introduce different styles and techniques of figure theatre to the Turkish audience. Being one of the most hospitable and exotic puppet festivals, Istanbul International Puppet Festival is highly selective and is open mostly to the best masters of the puppetry art. The selection criteria points towards modern interpretations and fantasy in puppetry. Istanbul International Puppet Festival is proud to be a small, yet rich in artistic content. In addition to performances, the festival is always working towards widening its frame by organizing symposiums, exhibitions and workshops on puppet and figure theatre. |
