| Festival Description | Since 1983 the festival Belluard Bollwerk International takes place every year in the beginning of the summer in Fribourg, Switzerland. The festival programming varies from theatre, dance, installations, film, music and related fields. The events are presented at the Belluard — a medieval fortress and heart of the festival, and at the cultural centre Ancienne Gare as well as throughout the city of Fribourg by means of site specific interventions. With its a-typical and unconventional program, and its presentation of new artistic trends and upcoming artists the Belluard Festival takes a special position. Besides inviting projects, the Belluard Festival allocates a large part of its budget to commissions which makes the Belluard Festival an important partner for Swiss and foreign artists. For every edition the festival also opens a thematic call for proposals. The festival is a place for ongoing exchange and research, a temporary community during the two week period. It is a time for intense exchange between artists and the audience. |
