| Festival Description | The magnificent drama of Schiller’s “William Tell” is performed each year in the open-air thatre in the Rugen wood at Interlaken. Authentic wooden houses built true to the style of the 13th century and towering up behind them grow the tall trees of the wood. A traditional Alpine procession troops across the stage providing a lively introduction to the play and the entire cast of over 180 players including children are all attractively dressed in historical National costumes. The fist open-air performance of “Tell” in Interlaken was given in 1912, and since then hundreds of thousands of spectators have been moved and inspired by this exceptional play. |
