| Festival Description | The social calendar for the fans of home-grown sounds is red-red hot this year, with the annual Ketapele Music Festival burning up the stages with some of South Africa’s jazziest artists. Following the groovy footprints of last year’s festival, the successful Ketapele Music Festival will leave the crowds in awe with its fantastic line-up, where artists such as Bhudaza, Hugh Masekela, Ringo, Selaelo Selota, Ntando, Malaika, Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse, Richy Ramolefe, Ladies in Jazz, Mafikizolo and Spirals Jazz Band are just some of the names that can be expected at this event. The Ketapele Music Festival is an annual highlight in Northam and caters for the musical tastes of young and old. So come on, bring a blanket or camp chairs with a picnic basket and enjoy a pleasant afternoon with a couple of good friends. A beer tent and food stalls will also be on site. |

Festival Story:
Hosted for the first time in the platinum-rich, entertainment-starved area between Rustenburg and Thabazimbi in 2003; the event expanded and enhanced itself, attracting some of the biggest names in jazz to the area. Ticket prices are kept at a bare minimum to allow as many people as possible from the nearby mines and farming communities to attend the show. Up-and-coming local artists are also invited to perform and gain much needed exposure.
