Festival Description

The Mangaung African Cultural Festival (MACUFE) is one of South Africa’s most prominent nationalarts extravaganzas. Launched in 1997 and staged annually in Bloemfontein, MACUFE is an initiative of the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture, Science and Technology of the Free State province. Renowned as South Africa’s only ‘true African festival’ and titled the biggest arts and cultural showcase of its kind on the continent, MACUFE focuses internationally rather than locally and offers a home to the vast range of cultural groups represented in Africa.
