This year’s programme will be comprised of 15 events by various local and foreign authors. The staff of B-51 Cultural Society that designed and organised also this festival’s edition, firmly believes that the programme – the same as previous years – will definitely provide interesting and innovative productions of premium quality in the field of performing arts. Please find enclosed the festival’s programme with brief description of the festival’s events. More information available at our website http://www.exponto.net. This year, the tradition of international coproductions and the promotion of collaboration among festivals and theatres is exhibited by two projects premiered at the festival. Both witness the participation of nearly ten countries and as many festivals and theatres. The performances directed by renown Silviu Purcarete (E. Ionesco: Exit the King) and the young ambitious Macedonian director Martin Kočovski (My Name Is Red, based on the motifs of the homonymous novel by O. Pamuk) will respectively open and close Ex Ponto 2010. In addition, the programme will offer performances by selected European, as well as six premieres by Slovenian authors providing a unique illustration of the domestic theatre production. Festival Story:
The Ex Ponto International Festival was launched in 1993 by the B-51 Cultural Society. The Society’s most important project was created at the outset on a strong humanistic, political and social foundation, attempting by means of cultural exchanges and international co-productions to maintain connections with other parts of former Yugoslavia and south eastern Europe. Connections and joint venture projects with the prominent festivals in these regions still represent a specific feature of Ex Ponto today. Projects are primarily confined to the spheres of theatre and fine arts but should in future also encompass film.
