Festival Description

New Drama was an annual festival of plays by contemporary authors staged by directors from around the world. The aim of the Festival was to promote new Russian and foreign plays and support the development of contemporary theatre. The Festival objectives are:
— To encourage Russian theatres to stage new world drama
— To bring the attention of the audience and theatre makers to the most interesting modern plays written during the last few years and to break-through and innovative productions of the last few years
— To present a wide spectrum of new plays written by Russian and foreign authors
— To create a meeting point and a debating forum for new drama professionals from all over the world.

Festival Story:

New Drama was an annual festival of contemporary plays. The idea of the Festival belonged to Eduard Boyakov, Elena Gremina and Mikhail Ugarov whose initiative was supported in 2002 by the Moscow Art theatre, Golden Mask Association and Theatre.doc. .
