Festival Description

CODA Oslo International Dance Festival CODA aims to strengthen dance as an art form in Norway. The festival focuses on presenting a variety and diversity within an international and Norwegian contemporary dance arena through a biennale of dance of the highest artistic levels. CODA was established as a foundation in the spring of 2001, with the first festival taking place in the autumn of 2002. At first an annual event, since 2005 the festival has become a biennale.

About the 9th festival — 2013:
  • The festival took place from 24 September to 6 October 2013. This year’s festival payed homage to Norwegian choreography and presented themost prominent, the established, the innovators and the youngsters. In the course of ten days of festival activities in the Norwegian capital, some 20 Norwegian choreographers presented works large and small, and more than 40 performances and events, workshops and seminars were scheduled in ten different performance venues. CODA 2013 opened at Dance House Norway with alarge-scale visiting performance GEFALTET (FOLDED) from Sasha Waltz & Guests, Germany.CODA 2013 came to an end with a sold-out house for Carte Blanche at Dance House Norway, and this year’s festival drew record high attendance. To all those who have also been following us online, we have now released a video that sums up this year’s festival, with excerpts from performances, workshops, stunts, and more, along with interviews with Jo Strømgren, Petter Jacobsson — director of CCN-Ballet de Lorraine — and Liv O’Donoghue — Irish dancer and CODAfringe participant.
