| Festival Description | The International Guitar Festival of J.K. Mertz offers a program of concerts, masterclasses and seminars and as well International guitar competition of J. K. Mertz. Classical guitar recitals and concerts will be performed featuring ancient music performed on historical instruments, in addition to jazz music. This year’s festival offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy the art of renowned domestic artists as well as prestigious guests from Croatia, Greece, Italy, Slovakia, Spain, USA. The guitar players and enthusiasts can participate at seminar and masterclasess led by renowned guests. The guitar festival will be held as part of The Summer of Culture festival Bratislava. The best guitar players of today will perform their art in the historical centre of the city (nearby to the place where the famous guitar player and composer of the 19th century Kaspar Mertz was born). |

Festival Story:
The Association of J. K. Mertz was founded in 2008 by people who participated on organizing the festival. The main priority of the association is the organisation and support of the International Guitar Festival of J. K. Mertz and its accompanying events. Apart from that the members are drawn to support the guitar artistry in Slovakia and inform, popularize and offer for wider professional and public knowledge the name of aforementioned Bratislava native, guitarist and composer - J. K. Mertz. In 2009 the J. K. Mertz association became the organistor of the 34th International Guitar Festival of J. K. Mertz.
