| Festival Description | Fairbanks Folk Fest, Inc was founded in the mid-seventies, and has grown from offering a single music folk festival to presenting a Winter Folk Fest, a Summer Folk Fest, and the Bluegrass Camp for Kids. The organization is meeting its mission in providing opportunities for musicians to perform before a live audience, by way of presenting free concert performances for the community and by sponsoring a summer bluegrass music camp for kids. Fairbanks Folk Fest takes place two times a year with winter and summer editions in February and June. Each edition is a free community festival with a mix of folk, jazz, blues, and more. Both the Fairbanks Winter and Summer Folk Fests offer an entire day of entertainment in a comfortable, family setting at FNSB Pioneer Park. Both events are sponsored by FNSB Parks & Recreation, KUAC, Multi-media Makers, and UAF Student Activities, with help from the festival volunteers, members, and performers. |
