First organized in 1991 when Luxembourg held the Presidency of the European Community, Rock um Knuedler became the rock ”rendez-vous par excellence”. Initially created as a platform for local bands this festival headlines also since 1995 foreign bands and artists. So this unbeatable festival has become an obligatory appearance for all Luxembourg groups and each year 12 groups are presented an average. The bands share two stages (horse stage and lion stage) at the very heart of the City of Luxembourg on the Place Guillaume II, also called the “Knuedler”. Since it began in 1991, “Rock um Knuedler” has been free to the public, audiences being as large as 8,000-10,000.
