| Festival Description | Every year, the International Festival of Young Musicians receives talented children aged 16 and under, who already have considerable experience at taking part in concerts and competitions. The usual format of the festival is six or seven concerts, with the opening and closing evenings featuring the participants playing with the Kaunas Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Pavel Berman (violin, Italy). The International Festival of Young Musicians has invited young performers, their teachers and listeners to Kaunas. This event is aimed at everybody who fosters human values and feels concerned about the education and aesthetic training of the young generation of performers. In 1990, the festival took place for the first time and five years later joined the list of the projects of Ars Baltica, a program for multilateral cultural cooperation within the Baltic Sea region, coordinated by the ministries of culture of the Baltic States. |
