| Festival Description | Vancouver Island International Children’s Festival is expanding the Festival to two locations—Nanaimo serving the central and north Island schools and families, and Victoria serving the south. This expansion means that even more schools, teachers and families will be within easy reach of the Festival. Performing artists from Canada, USA, Vietnam, and Africa bring comedy, drama, acrobatics, circus arts, music, storytelling and puppetry to the stages of the Festival at Bear Mountain Arena in Victoria and the Port Theatre in Nanaimo. The Festival’s goal is to provide arts and cultural education through entertainment. The international aspect of our Festival helps teach children about life in other lands and also reflects the multicultural makeup of Canadian society. Where children are exposed to other cultural expressions, their understanding, tolerance and acceptance follows. |
