Since 1992, ASSITEJ Korea has been involved in developing children’s and youth theatre in Korea, with special grants from Korean Culture and Arts Foundation, and City of Seoul. In order to make a fruitful result out of the Award, ASSITEJ Korea founded Seoul Children’s Theatre Festival in 1993. The Festival invites four best productions chosen by the jury of the Seoul Children’s Theatre Award. Outstanding foreign theatre companies have been invited for the Festival since 1995. ASSITEJ Korea will invite ten of the most important artistic directors from the world to discuss the current status of the children’s theatre in the world at a symposium. The Seoul Performing Arts Festival for Young Audiences is completely subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Republic of Korea, as well as by the City of Seoul.
