| Festival Description | Queensland Music Festival, originally known as the Brisbane Biennial International Music Festival was founded in 1998. The festival produces a world-class festival celebrating the world of music in all its forms, and show it as wide an audience across Queensland as possible. Internationally recognized for its high standards and cutting edge music’s creation, interpretation and appreciation is brought to Queensland. From classic to contemporary, from new forms to old styles, from the sublime to the outrageous. In July every second year the Festival brings the disparate parts of the State into contact, connecting and celebrating the differences, but also joyfully taking part in our similarities. It advocates that music is a fundamental tool in the building of community. Community is created through—opera singers performing the great classics, or a band playing with tomorrow’s technology; whether it is one of the many communities of music fields or styles; whether it is the passive experience of being part of an audience lying back and enjoying it, or getting up and taking part. |
