| Festival Description | Since its inception in 1998 the annual Le Cheile: Oldcastle Arts and Music Festival has been run by a group of young volunteers from Oldcastle (under the name Culture Gap Ltd). The festival was founded with the aim of bringing live music and art to an historic and scenic part of Ireland, North-West Meath. Le Cheile has featured many of Ireland's best known music acts including The Saw Doctors, The 4 of Us, Aslan, Altan, Kila, Hot House Flowers, Something Happens, Dara, Turn, Sack, Pierce Turner, Mundy, The Frames, Picture House, The Undertones etc. The steady growth in the festival line-up and ever-widening circle of artistic media was recognised in 2004 when the festival organisers won Meath VEC's Youth Club of the Year award. |
