| Festival Description | First held in 1980, this is one of the longest running Festivals of classical music in Ireland. A great variety of music is offered over consecutive Thursdays in July and August. The festival is now widely known for the high standard or music and the stunning setting. The venue itself, the very picturesque Church of St. Barrahanes is worth a visit with its beautiful stained glass windows by, amongst others, Harry Clarke. The aim of the Festival is to raise funds for the upkeep of the church and its organ and for various charities. |
