The International David Popper Violoncello Competition is organized by Hungarofest and the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest. The competition takes place in the Great Hall of the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music. Before each stage competitors have the opportunity of a short rehearsal at the venue of the competition. The competition is divided into three rounds: preliminary, semi-final, and final. All rounds are open to the public. The order of appearance is decided by ballot at the opening of the competition. This order is valid throughout the competition.
