The competition takes place in the Great Hall of the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music. Prior to each competition participants have the opportunity of a short rehearsal on the stage at the venue of the competition. The competition is divided into three rounds: preliminary, semi-final, and final. All rounds are open to the public. The order of appearance is decided by ballot at the opening of the competition. This order is valid throughout the competition.
